‘Project Kamloops’ nets $2m in cash, cars, drugs

Some $875,000 in cash, cars and drugs were seized as part of a GTA-wide drug investigation.

Durham Regional Police’s Drug Enforcement Unit and RCMP began ‘Project Kamloops’ in spring of 2019 to combat drug trafficking in Durham Region and GTA.

This past week, nine search warrants were executed at several residences and businesses in Durham Region, Toronto and Peel Region. All arrests occurred without incident with no injuries reported.

Nine people have been arrested and are facing 60 charges.

The total value of cash, cars and drugs seized in Project Kamloops, including this week’s seizures, is about $2 million. The seizure includes six vehicles (Proceeds of Crime), a firearm, cash, cocaine, fentanyl and MDMA

A list of the suspects and charges will be released later this week.

The DRPS and the RCMP were assisted by numerous partnerst, including the Toronto Police Service and Peel Regional Police Service.
