Stay local and ring in the New Year as Oshawa celebrates

The City of Oshawa is inviting families to ring in the New Year at the Oshawa Celebrates 2026 event on Wednesday, December 31, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Delpark Homes Centre (1661 Harmony Road North).

This free, family-friendly celebration promises an evening filled with fun activities for all ages, said the city.

For the safety and enjoyment of everyone attending, new event capacity limits will be in place this year. Admission is first-come, first-served. Entry will pause once capacity is reached and may resume if space opens. These measures are in place to ensure a safe, positive experience for all who attend, said a statement.

The event will feature free skating and swimming, animal displays, jumping castles and live entertainment. The highlight of the evening will be the family-friendly countdown to the New Year at 9 pm, offering a festive way to celebrate the end of 2025 and look forward to the new year.

Wristbands for skating and swimming will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 5:45 pm and regular swim admission requirements apply.

The supporting sponsor is Delpark Homes.

Event parking will be available at the Delpark Homes Centre and at the adjacent Maxwell Heights Secondary School.

As an added way to celebrate the new year, the Civic Recreation Centre will host a free public swim from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, giving families and individuals another chance to welcome 2026 in a fun and active setting.
