A Pickering male was rushed to hospital on Sunday with serious injuries after being thrown from his dirt bike, said Durham police.
On May 10 at about 4:20 pm, a 21-year-old man was riding a dirt bike near the ball diamond close to Valley Park Public School on Pepper Wood Gate in Pickering. Witnesses observed the male driving the dirt bike at a high rate of speed before hitting a hill and going airborne. The male was not wearing a helmet and went over the handlebars, landing on his face, police said.
Region of Durham Paramedic Services and Pickering Fire Services attended and the male was transported by land ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre in stable condition, with multiple, serious injuries.
He is expected to make as full recovery, police said.
