18-year old turns in self in human trafficking case

Human Trafficking investigators have arrested a second suspect in an ongoing investigation.

On October 29, the 18-year-old male suspect (Janes) turned himself in at a police station in Pickering. Police have also arrested a 30-year-old suspect (Elansooriyanathan) on October 22, 2020.

Brett Janes, age 18, of Rainy Day Drive in Pickering has been charged with: Trafficking in Person by Recruiting; Material Benefit Trafficking in Person; Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Procuring Exercise Control; Advertising Sexual Services and Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration. He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators want to ensure there are no further victims and are asking anyone with new information to contact D/Cst. Chapman of the Human Trafficking Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5604.
