The Canadian Bankers Association is offering a reward of $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for a number of armed robberies at various financial institutions throughout the GTA.
Investigators from the Toronto Police Service – Hold Up Squad and Peel Regional Police – Central Robbery Bureau, are seeking the public’s assistance with an investigation.
Twenty-two bank robberies were committed in the Greater Toronto Area by these suspects between October 5 and December 13, said a TPS media release.
In each incident, several of the suspects entered the banks, while attempting to disguise their identities, and made demands for money. In each of the incidents, at least one of the suspects was armed with a firearm. The suspects used several different motor vehicles to commit these robberies including a black Hyundai Elantra, a silver BMW 328 and an white Acura MDX. All of these vehicles had been previously stolen from different locations, it said.
All suspects are described as male, late teens to early 20’s.
They committed these gunpoint robberies in a violent manner without any regard for the public’s safety. However, no injuries were reported, police said.
