306-apartment building planned for Cedar Street

A Planning Act public meeting will be held regarding an application submitted to the City of Oshawa by Bousfields Inc. on behalf of Cedar Wentworth Holdings Limited (Medallion Corporation) to amend Zoning By-law 60-94 (File: Z-2020-04) for lands at 1040 Cedar Street and 280 Wentworth Street West.

The applicant proposes to develop a new apartment building varying in height between 8 storeys and 15 storeys and containing 306 apartment units and a 3-storey above-grade parking structure. The component of the building proposed to be 8 storeys in height generally comprises the northwesterly portion of the building footprint, whereas the component of the building proposed to be 15 storeys in height generally comprises the southwesterly portion of the building footprint. The 3-storey parking garage generally comprises the easterly portion of the building footprint. The two existing 8-storey apartment buildings on the property will remain, said a city announcement.

The application is to amend Zoning By-law 60-94 to rezone the subject site from R6-C (Residential) to an appropriate R6-D (Residential) Zone, to implement the proposed development with site specific conditions to permit certain performance standards such as, but not limited to, increased building height, reduced required parking and reduced interior side yard (north side) and rear yard (west side) depths.

The Oshawa Development Services Committee will be considering the application for the lands as shown shaded on the map (below) at the public meeting. The application has been determined to be complete.
