32 new covid cases posted by Durham Health

Durham Health yesterday posted 32 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 2,309 since the count began on February 29. However, the day-to-day count (including cases under investigation) comes to 33 new cases.

Recoveries total 2,046, up by 21.

  • Nine new cases were reported in Oshawa
  • Seven in Whitby
  • Five in Pickering
  • Three in Ajax
  • Six in Clarington
  • One in Uxbridge, and
  • Two cases are under investigation

No new covid-related death has been announced in Durham since July 9.

Two cases are hospitalized with one in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 80 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 181, of which 152 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 708 in Pickering followed by 648 in Ajax and 355 in Oshawa.

Death Toll: No new death reported

  • Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
  • Of the 37 reported deaths in Ajax, 31 were in LTCH
  • Four deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
  • Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
  • Seven deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
  • 21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog
  • No deaths have been reported in Brock

  1. So how can we have a total of 109 new cases in Durham in the last week, as per chart above, but only have 80 people in home isolation and 2 in hospital. What are all the other people who tested positive doing? And isn’t it two weeks to be considered virus free at a minimum? Our home isolation numbers should be 2-3x what is reported here.
