Downtown Oshawa getting new wall murals

Downtown Oshawa has embarked on a new mural project. Later this month, these new murals will be up on three businesses. These are created by Oshawa resident Chad Tyson.

“…We really need visual changes and creating community artwork is my way to contribute to the new and improved Oshawa landscape,” said Tyson.

The Wall Mural Initiative will improve the streetscape of downtown featuring  local talent. The project is starting with three murals for 2019 with hopes of more in 2020. With the new banners and pole wraps, these wall murals mark the beginning of Downtown Oshawa BIA’s beautification efforts and solidify the brand.

These pieces of art are to be found later this month at:

  • Cork & Bean located on 8 Simcoe Street North,
  • La Quinta located on 63 King Street East, and
  • The Vape Store located on 14 Ontario Street

“The BIA is committed to revitalizing the downtown through arts and culture and these wall murals are one of several new initiatives to jump-start that process! We look forward to seeing other artists’ proposals in the future,” said Amanda MacDonald, Executive Director, Downtown Oshawa BIA.

She said if interested in showcasing their artwork and contribute to this wall mural initiative – or if a business or property owner would like to have a wall mural on the side of their property, they can email amanda@downtownoshawa.ca.
