DRPS Traffic Services has heard it all before – and perhaps the most common excuse for speeding is: I’m late for work.
Recently, a teacher was clocked at double the speed limit, and on Tuesday, police reported a G2 Driver, charged with stunt, for excessively speeding.
Police said the motorist was 83km over the speed limit, though they appear to have been clocked at a lower speed (see image below).
The incident happened in Blackstock, Scugog. The driver said they were late for work “Please pay attention to and obey the speed limit,” police said.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle (top image) impounded for 14 days.
DRPS North Division Traffic yesterday conducted speed enforcement in Goodwood and Glasgow in Uxbridge yesterday.
Please obey the speed limit, they urged.
Stunt Driving
West Division DRPS pointed out that stunt driving isn’t just a night time occurrence – at 5am yesterday, a motorist was caught going 108kmh through an industrial area in the City of Pickering (image below).
Police reminded that stunt driving carries immediate roadside penalties such as 14-day impound and a 30-day driving licence suspension.
Meanwhile, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division was enforcing on Regulation Road 3 and Potters Lane in Enniskillen.
A speeding driver was issued $474 fine and four demerit points for driving 82kmh in a posted 50, Community Safety Zone.
DRPS East Division on Reg Hy 2 and Holt Road, said a driver failed to stop for a school bus with red lights flashing and stop sign out.
Fine is $490 and 6 demerit points, they said.
