Watermain break closes part of Bayly Street

There was a bit of traffic disruption in Pickering yesterday when a watermain break led to the closure of a part of Bayly Street.

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department responded. Bayly Street, between Begley Street and the West Shore Community Centre (1011 Bayly Street) in Pickering, has been closed for watermain repairs.

  • When: The road will be closed until the watermain is repaired.
  • Where: Bayly Street, between Begley Street and the West Shore Community Centre (1011 Bayly Street) in the City Pickering.
  • Why: Crews are working to repair the watermain and road.

Note: Residents and businesses in the immediate area may experience a temporary water service interruption or decrease in water pressure during the repair. When the water service returns to normal, it is important for customers to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes to clean out any sediment that may have accumulated in your water service. This will avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.

  1. Great to get the information today but a bit too late. I live on Bayly and due to the lack of traffic control was out in the cold assisting as a tanker was also stranded in the entrance to our Townhouse complex. Traffic doing U turns all over the place between Westshore and the West Shore Community Center. Very hazardous. The signage just before Westshore was dull and not facing the traffic. Signs should have gone up at the 401 Exit to Whites Rd South and at the Whites at the Bayly intersection, I called the police who came and said there was nothing they could do. A real POOR show.
