Port Perry traffic curbs for two upcoming film shoots

The Township of Scugog has announced that permit approvals are being finalized for the two upcoming film projects taking place this October.

Witness Protection Pilot Television Productions

Film crews will be filming interior and exterior scenes at the Currie Grain Elevator (Old Mill), Scugog Library, and Port Perry Boat Launch October 20 to October 22.

Prep for the interior of the Old Mill will take place October 6 to October 19, between 7 am and 7 pm.

For production vehicles and various pieces of film equipment located on Water Street East side from Queen Street to North Street (parking spaces).

The township will begin reserving the above areas with cones on October 5 at 6 pm, with prep vehicles arriving October 6 at 7 am.

Please note, this area will be used during the prep of the set (Old Mill), said a township notice.

During filming dates (October 20 to 22), the following is expected:

  • Intermittent traffic stoppages on Water Street from Queen Street to North Street (when cameras rolling only)
  • Intermittent traffic stoppages on Queen and Water Street intersection (when cameras rolling only)
  • Intermittent traffic stoppages on Old Rail Lane (when cameras rolling only)
  • Parking lot usage around area
  • Parking lots remain open to the public
  • Paid Duty Officers on site for film days

Some details may be subject to change and additional updates and notices will be issued.

Set design includes set dressing inside the Grain Elevator Building as well as dressing the exterior of the building during the noted times above. The crew will minimize their presence in the area by utilizing Lot 8 by the Boat Launch for any vehicles that will not be necessary for set dressing.  

Filming and related activities are undertaken under the authority and approval of the Township of Scugog.

NE Way Home Productions

Film crews will be returning to Port Perry for season four of The Way Home. Crews will be filming interior and exterior scenes at the Currie Grain Elevator (Old Mill) October 25 in the late afternoon/evening. Prep for this film date will take place October 23 and 24.

Please note, this production will include some parking lot/road usage for both prep and filming; exact details will be provided soon, the township said.
