Durham police yesterday said a 30-year-old male has been arrested after a child luring investigation that spanned multiple agencies.
In late May, members of the DRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) began an investigation into an adult male communicating with a 12-year-old girl online. The male sent sexually explicit messages and shared sexually explicit material to the victim.
On November 11, members from the DRPS ICE Unit executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant at the suspect’s residence in Bowmanville and arrested the suspect without incident.
Police are concerned there may be other victims and would like to speak with anyone with information. The male suspect operated under the username “sinister.illustrations.”” on TikTok and Instagram, police said.
The DRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit cooperated with Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Army Criminal Investigations Division and the El Paso Police Department for this investigation.
Then 30-year old male from Bowmanville, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name, photo and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Anyone with information about this or similar incidents is asked to contact D/Cst. McGovern of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5542.
Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name the accused parties as:
1. Of this time, they are suspect[s] and not convicted by a court, and
2. Sometimes charges are amended or dropped.
