Shooting closes part of Simcoe St, victim in trauma centre

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reported a shooting in Oshawa, where a man, the victim was seriously injured.

“One male has been transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre,” said the DRPS.

Part of the key Oshawa artery, Simcoe Street, was closed while the investigation continued.

“There is a large police presence in the area of Simcoe Street North and Bond Street East in Oshawa after police received a call for an armed person,” said a police statement.

The male victim remains at a Toronto-area trauma centre in life-threatening condition. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call 905-579-1520.

Updates will be provided as they become available, it added.
