Ajax promises full parking enforcement from Oct 13

The Town of Ajax yesterday announced that its fall and winter enforcement protocols are coming into effect beginning on October 13.

Throughout the spring and summer, Ajax By-Law Services have been focused on proactive enforcement of Parks By-Law and parking enforcement in high-traffic areas, in addition to responding to complaints received by the community,it said.

Fall/Winter Enforcement Changes

  • Starting October 13, TOA parking enforcement will resume our full, pre-Covid level of service. This means enforcement for vehicles parked on the street in excess of 3 hours.
  • The TOA Occasional-use Parking Permit program is also in full effect.
    • Note: these permits are invalid in the event of a winter storm
  • TOA Snow Control Program starts November 15. Proactive patrols and tickets for vehicles on the street overnight begins on November 1, or at any time during an inclement weather event.

Reminders

  • Vehicles may not be parked on streets during winter storm events. Parked vehicles will be subject to fines and/or towing at the owner’s expense
  • During winter storm events, the town clears roadways from curb to curb on a priority basis
  • You can follow the crews and their progress on our Plow Map at ajax.ca/plowmap
  • The Seniors Snow Removal Program begins 24 hours after a snow event has ended

  • TOA By-Law Services and Operations teams are gearing up for inclement weather response for the 2020/2021 season
  • Parking enforcement will be back in full effect starting October 13, and Snow Control programming starts November 15
  • We ask that residents and business owners familiarize themselves with the rules. There is zero tolerance for on-street parking during a winter storm event, and vehicles will be subject to tagging and/or towing
