Today Athol Street closed, Newcastle lane restriction

Whitby: The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department has advised that there will be intermittent lane restrictions on a portion of Durham Highway 2 (King Avenue East) in Newcastle, as crews work to restore the Graham Creek Channel.

When: Work is scheduled to begin August 12 and should be complete by October 15.

Where: Durham Highway 2 (King Avenue East), at the Graham Creek channel (just west of Farrow Avenue), in Newcastle (Municipality of Clarington).

Why: Channel restoration under the bridge and the construction of channel banks.

Athol Street Closure

Athol Street between Charles Street and Drew Street will be closed on August 12 Monday from 6 am to 6 pm.

It is being closed to dismantle the tower crane.

However, access to emergency services and local residents would be available at all times.

Clarington Road Closure

Concession Street West, between Centre Street and Liberty Street, will close August 19 to 21, 2019 during the day for underground services work.

Detour available via Wellington Street and local alternates.
