Bowanville mom scares off son’s backpack robbers

Durham police yesterday said a 15-year-old male was robbed while walking home on Tuesday night.

On June 2 at about 11:00 pm, members of East Division responded to a street-level robbery call. A 15-year-old male was walking home along northbound on Sprucewood Crescent in Clarington while speaking to his mother on his cellphone, police said.

Two men exited a vehicle parked on Madden Place and approached the male and robbed him of his backpack. The victim’s mother ran out of her house to the area and scared off the suspects. The males entered the same vehicle and drove off. The victim was not physically injured, the police said.

Suspect #1 is described as: male, white, age 16 to 18 and approximately 5′ 10″ tall with a slender build. He was wearing black sweats and a black medical mask.

Suspect #2 is described as: male, white, age 16 to 18 and approximately 5′ 10″ tall with a slender build. He was wearing a grey hoodie, black sweatpants and a blue medical mask.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark coloured SUV.
