Federal-provincial charges for Bowmanville Creek poachers

Poachers, caught on video, fishing with nets in Bowmanville Creek, are being charged with federal and provincial offences, according to the Member of Parliament from Durham Riding.

“We have been in touch with local law enforcement, and we confirmed with them that Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers attended to the matter and numerous federal and provincial charges were laid against the offenders,” said a statment from MP Jamil Jivani, in response to a citizen’s query.

He thanked the Bowmanville resident for contacting authorities about the incident at Bowmanville Creek. “Many of our neighbours are rightly concerned for the conservation area in our community,” said Jivani.

“Please do let us know if you become aware of any incidents like this in the future, as it is important for us to work with law enforcement to ensure our communities are safe and laws are followed by all,” he added.

The video of the poachers has gone viral on local social media posts.

  1. Doubt this story will make the big news outlets let alone be translated into 30 different languages so the next potential offenders will get the message and be warned

    1. Don’t be too sure, I’ve been reading quite a few hunting and game infractions being publicized lately. It also depends whether it’s a slow news day…
