Investigators are trying to identify a teenager who approached a young child at an Oshawa playground and showed the child a $5 bill.
On Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 4:30 pm, an unknown male teenager approached a seven-year-old child playing at North Oshawa Park on Beatrice Street East in Oshawa. While the child was on a swing set in the northeast corner of the park, the teenager approached and sat beside the child. The teenager pulled out a $5 bill and showed it to the child.
The teenager then left for a few moments but returned on a bicycle and the child was seen following him on a scooter. An adult who witnessed this interaction confronted the teenager, who then left the area on his bicycle. The child was not harmed and went home to his mother.
Investigators want to contact the teenager to understand what the interaction with the child was about. He is described as a male, white, 14-18 years old, with a black BMX bicycle.
