Clarington residents will be able to watch council decisions and debates live as the municipality will live stream all council and committee meetings.
“Clarington will offer web streaming of its meetings using its newly-implemented electronic meeting management system. Residents with internet access will be able to view all council meetings in real-time. Alternately, these meetings will also be archived and available for viewing after. This change is expected in the New Year,” said a municipal announcement.
“This has been a long time coming. With recent improvements in our audio system, our residents are finally able to view all Council deliberations and decisions. This certainly improves transparency and hopefully will encourage more residents to become engaged with their local government,” said Mayor Adrian Foster.
Closed captioning will be added to the archived video within two days of the meeting.
Currently, Clarington records audio of all council and committee meetings.
