Covid Update: Active cases slowly rising every day

Durham Health yesterday posted sixteen new Covid-19 cases for August 5, taking the region’s tally to 25,495 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 375, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 25,040. However, there are 80 active covid cases. One person is hospitalized with none in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 79 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Three new cases in Pickering
  • Six in Ajax
  • One in Clarington
  • Two in Whitby, and
  • Four in Oshawa

Covid Deaths: 375

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 67 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 59 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 63 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
