Drop in Durham covid cases on Jan 26

Durham Health yesterday saw no new Covid-19 deaths and posted 53 new Covid-19 cases for January 25, taking the region’s tally to 10,411 since the count began on February 29.

There were:

  • 16 new cases in Pickering and Ajax
  • 11 in Whitby
  • 8 in Oshawa
  • 4 in Clarington, and
  • One in Uxbridge

Recoveries stand at 9,695, up by 99. There are 438 active covid cases.

Fourty cases are hospitalized with 13 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 398 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,052 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 278              LTCH – 214

Of the 95 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 47 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-three deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 46 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Ten deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Thirteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 11 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
