Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has quelled rumors suggesting that tickets are being issued if two or more people are found in a car.
Under the current insistence on social distancing to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus, the rumor has been doing the rounds of social media.
“Despite what you may have read on social media, Durham Regional Police Service is NOT issuing tickets under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act when there are two people in a car,” said a DRPS tweet yesterday.
“However, we would like to remind everyone to: maintain physical distance & stay home except for essential trips,” it added.
