Fight over loud music leads to two being stabbed

Durham police yesterday said a male and female suffered injuries during an altercation involving a knife on Saturday.

On May 30 at about 3:30 pm., two male neighbours in an apartment complex became involved in an argument about the volume of music coming from one apartment in the area of Mary Street North and Colbourne Street East in Oshawa, said a police media release.

The argument became physical and one male produced a knife. During the altercation, the other male grabbed the knife and slashed the victim. The suspect’s wife tried to intervene and she received minor injuries. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, the release said.

A 36-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with: Aggravated Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Possession of Weapons Dangerous; and Fail to Comply with Probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Any witnesses to this incident are urged to contact D/Cst. Wright of the Central East Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1738.
