Durham Police from the West Division recovered a loaded handgun after a traffic stop in Ajax.
On Wednesday at about 1:00 am, members of West Division conducted a traffic stop at Cowling Drive and Lake Driveway in Ajax. Officers investigated two females and a male for smoking cannabis in the motor vehicle. Police searched the motor vehicle and located a male in the rear seat with a firearm. The suspect was arrested and police seized a loaded firearm.
Drai Wilson, age 19, of Exeter Road in Ajax, is charged with:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Contravention of Storage Regulations
- Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Firearm with Ammunition
- Tamper with Serial Number
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order and
- Care and Control of Motor vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.
He was held for a bail hearing.
