Five teen car thieves released on undertaking

Five teens in a stolen vehicle were chased and caught by Durham police officers.

They were all later released on an Undertaking, according to police.

On March 22 at about 4:45 pm, members of West Division located a stolen Mazda 6 in the area of Middlecote Road and Taunton Road in Ajax. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but driver failed to stop for police. The suspect vehicle struck two police vehicles and then drove the vehicle on the sidewalk before being blocked in by other responding police cars. Five teens were arrested in the vehicle. There were no injuries to any officers or the suspects, police said.

A 16-year-old male from Ajax is charged with: Flight From Police; Dangerous Operation and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000.

Two teens, a female and male, aged 14-years-old and two 16-years-old males are charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

They were all released on an Undertaking.
