Graphic Alert: Video of shooting in Pickering

Durham police investigators are asking the public to help identify four males in a white vehicle involved in a shooting incident on Monday in Pickering.

The video is graphic and police advise discretion for younger or more sensitive viewers.

On  July 27 at about 5 pm, several calls came in about multiple gunshots being heard on Woodview Drive in Pickering. Four males in a newer model white vehicle, all wearing masks, were seen driving up to a house on Woodview Avenue. The 37-year-old male victim was getting out of his vehicle parked in his driveway when two of the occupants inside the suspect vehicle began shooting at him, said a police statement.

The victim was struck several times and fell to the ground. The suspect vehicle then began to leave, but returned when the victim was seen moving. One suspect then walks up closer to the victim and fires several more rounds at him before returning to the white vehicle, which then sped away, it added.

The victim received multiple, serious injuries and was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre for emergency surgery. He remains in hospital in stable condition. Investigators do not believe this was a random attack. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white, newer four-door model. The four suspects in the vehicle are described only as male. All were wearing masks. The suspect who exited the vehicle to continue shooting at the victim is described as a male, slim build, about 5’10” tall, wearing black clothing and black running shoes, police said.

Investigators are asking for any security camera footage from the area at the time, or dash cam video. Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Det. Hawkes (ext. 2528) or D/Cst. Chrzan (ext. 2565) of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520.
