Ajax man found with guns, drugs worth $50,000+

A Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU) firearms investigation has resulted in the seizure of three guns and over $50,000 in drugs.

On Thursday,  PWEU, assisted by the DRPS Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, and supported by DRPS Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Fearn Crescent in Ajax as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers located evidence of drug dealing and later received a second warrant to search a vehicle parked at the residence.

In total, the investigation resulted in the seizure of one fully-automatic pistol, a 9 mm handgun, a .22 calibre handgun, along with one kilogram of Xanax, and quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. The value of the drugs is estimated at approximately $58,000.

Sajjad Wadiwalla, age 37 of Fearn Crescent in Ajax is charged with: Importing Prohibited Device; Possession Prohibited Device; Possession Prohibited or Restricted Firearm; and Possession Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The DRPS is a participating partner of the PWEU, which has a mandate to identify and investigate people involved in the illegal movement of firearms, ammunitions and explosives including smuggling, trafficking and possessing of crime guns.
