Shammah Jolayemi found – questions remain

Though Shammah Jolayemi has been found safe, questions over his abduction remain.

Toronto Police last night said they have located the 14-year old safe and that he was being taken for a medical checkup.

However, the abduction amber alert that rattled people yesterday morning, has left many wondering why no one intervened – or at least noted the number of the car – even though Jolayemi was heard calling out for help as he was forced into a dark Jeep Wrangler by two men.

Another mystery is why did the school not report Joyalemi’s absence till past 6 pm even though police had been searching for him since morning.

Toronto District School Board is reported to have placed four teachers of Newtonbrook Secondary School on home assignment while it investigates the lapse.

Multimillion dollar cocaine deal

Police said the abduction was related to a multi-million debt for a cocaine deal owed by Jolayemi’s step-brother Olalekan Osikoya. The brother has skipped GTA.

Officers want to speak to Osikoya and encourage him to contact police.

Jolayemi was abducted on Wednesday, March 4 at 8:25 am, in the Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue area in Toronto, said the police.

It is reported  a vehicle of interest was seen in the Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue area around the same time the boy was last seen. The vehicle is described as dark coloured, possibly a black Jeep Wrangler with oversized tires, a front-mounted brush bar and round fog lights, said a TPS media release.
