Impaired driver crashes into fence, runs away

An Oshawa man is facing impaired driving charges after speeding down a residential street, crashing into a fence and leading officers on a foot chase.

On Sunday, November 10, at 10:35 pm, Durham Police officers were called after a pickup truck with no license plates was seen backing into a parked vehicle twice while in a parking lot on Simcoe Street North, near Sunset Drive.

The pickup was then seen driving southbound on Masson Street. The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and crashed into a chain link fence at the dead end of Masson Street. The driver then ran away from the scene and a foot pursuit ended shortly on Mary Street, where he was arrested. He was under court orders not to drive.

Matthew Pidgeon-Wallace, age 25 of Gibb Street in Oshawa, is charged with: Impaired Operation; Exceed .08; Breach of Probation x3; Fail to Remain; Drive While Under Suspension and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.
