Mandatory Newcastle water restrictions lifted

The Regional Municipality of Durham yesterday advised residents and businesses in Newcastle and Newtonville that the mandatory water restrictions have now been lifted.

All Durham residents and businesses are reminded to continue practising water conservation methods by limiting all indoor and outdoor water use, it said.

Examples of non-essential water use includes cleaning driveways or decks, washing cars and lawn watering.

In an effort to conserve water, residents using our municipal water supply are reminded to practise odd-even lawn watering until September. Under the Regional Water System By-law 89-2003, odd-even lawn watering is mandatory during the summer months.
