Metrolinx launches Presto e-Tickets for DRT users

Metrolinx yesterday launched Presto e-Tickets, which  it said is a new, convenient and touchless way to pay transit fare.It is available for Durham Region Transit (DRT) and Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) customers.

Presto E-Tickets can be bought using the Presto E-Ticket app on the smartphone before travel. Before users board, they will need to activate the e-Ticket. Once on board, the e-Ticket is proof of payment, Metrolinx said.

It said Presto e-Tickets are ideal for occasional riders and visitors or those who may have forgotten their Presto card. They can also be used for group travel as multiple tickets can be purchased, activated and displayed for payment by one individual on one smartphone.

They are valid for travel on a single transit system and do not count towards any loyalty programs, discounted transfers or co-fares that may be in place for Presto card or paper ticket users.

The is no expiration date for Durham Transit e-Tickets.

Monthly passes are specific to the month and will expire on the last day of the month whether they have been activated or not.

Presto e-Tickets are only available through the Presto E-Tickets App, which is separate from the Presto App. a customer account on the Presto E-Tickets App is different from a regular Presto card account.
