Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after being hit

Durham police yesterday said one person was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre last night after a collision involving a motorcycle.

On April 30 at around 6:30 pm, members from East Division were called to a collision at the intersection of Winchester Road and Harmony Street in Oshawa involving a BMW motorcycle and a four dour sedan. It appears that the vehicle was eastbound on Winchester Road when it struck the motorcycle that was travelling northbound, said a police media release.

The male operator of the motorcycle sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital and later air-lifted to a Toronto-area hospital. The driver of the car was not injured, the release added.

The 28-year-old Oshawa driver of the car was charged with Careless Driving.

Anyone with new information about the collision is asked to contact Cst. Higgins of East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3899.
