Night traffic stop leads to $20,000+ in drugs

More than $20,000 in drugs was seized after a traffic stop on Thursday in the Township of Scugog, said Durham Police.

At approximately 1:55 am, an officer from North Division was travelling in the area of Highway 7/12 and Scugog Line 12 when he observed a vehicle weaving on the roadway and travelling at a low rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop and, as he spoke to the driver, an odor of cannabis was detected.

The vehicle was searched and a quantity of drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, MDMA and crystal meth, and drug paraphernalia was located. The drugs seized have a street value of more than $20,000.

Tevin Ellis, age 26 of Mare Crescent in Toronto, has been charged with: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x4 and Driving While Under Suspension. He was held for a bail hearing.
