Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday clarified that the large police presence in Courtice lastnight was not due to an alleged shooting incident.
“Clarification – there is no active shooting incident in Durham Region. There was a large police presence in Courtice for a fail to remain suspect who fled from officers. This started at 8:10 pm near Highway 2 and Sandringham Rd,” said a DRPS tweet.
It said officers from DRPS East Division were looking for a male suspect who fled from a collision near Sandringham Drive and Highway 2 in Courtice. Air2 was assisting in search.
Suspect described as male, tanned complexion wearing red hoodie, no shoes. K9 was searching the area for the male.
