Police record checks now available online

Starting yesterday, residents of Durham have a new and convenient online application option for police record checks.

Anyone over the age of 18 can apply online securely at www.drps.ca/onlinechecks, said a police media release.

When the record check is ready, residents can attend one of three police locations, produce the proper identification and pick up their completed record check:

  • Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby
  • West Division, 1710 Kingston Road, Pickering or
  • Central East Division, 77 Centre Street North, Oshawa

To apply for a police record check in person, residents can still attend any of the DRPS divisions, or the Information Release Counter at Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby, 3rd Floor. Two pieces of valid, government issued identification, confirming name, date of birth and address are required. One of these must include a photo.

The Fees:

  • Police record checks for employment purposes are $55 each.
  • If fingerprints are required, an additional $25 RCMP fee is charged.
  • If a police record check for a volunteer purpose is needed and the volunteer has a letter from the school or organization, the police record check fee is $20. If applying in person, the volunteer letter must be provided at that time. If applying online, the volunteer letter must be provided at the time of pick up. All taxes are included.

  1. If I fill in the form on line – it is stating – submit – If I submit it will go directly to the Police Station in Pickering. How do I attach 2 pieces of ID if I am submitting it online after I complete the form. How do I attach photos of 2 pieces of id once submitted? Or do I submit the form and then send a separate email with the 2 pieces of ID? Also, how do I pay the $55.00 as well?
