NYE Gala: Welcome 2020 with Oshawa Celebrates

Oshawa has issued an open invitation to community members to help ring in a brand new decade at the Oshawa Celebrates 2020 event on Tuesday, December 31.

This fun, free, family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration takes place from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Delpark Homes Centre (1661 Harmony Road North, just north of Taunton Road), said a media release.

Oshawa Celebrates 2020 will feature an action packed evening of free activities, including jumping castles, crafts, Zoo to You, Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue, live entertainment and more. Complimentary hot chocolate will be available while supplies last.

A variety of free leisure swimming and skating options will also be available. Wristbands will be required to participate in the leisure swims and skates, and will be available when the doors open at 5:45 pm. and handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. The evening will wrap up with a family countdown to the New Year beginning at 9  pm.

Event parking will be available at the Delpark Homes Centre and at the adjacent Maxwell Heights Secondary School. Durham Region Transit (DRT) bus service is available to the Delpark Homes Centre.

“Bring in 2020 and start your New Year’s resolutions off on the right foot with an evening of FREE, fun-filled activities for the whole family. There is something for everyone!” said Councillor Rick Kerr, Chair of the Community Services Committee.

“This is a great way to spend New Year’s Eve with your family and friends. Have a look at the program as you’re sure to find activities that night that you will be able enjoy before the big countdown!” said Councillor Derek Giberson, Vice-Chair of the Community Services Committee.
