Oshawa, Whitby, Clarington lane restrictions

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department has announced lane restrictions on a portion of Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57) in Clarington.

  • When: October 15 to November 15.
  • Where: Bowmanville Avenue, at the intersection of Hartwell Avenue, in the Municipality of Clarington.
  • Why: To install sanitary sewer services, water services, a turning lane and an entrance to support new development.

Whitby restrictions

The Works Department has advised of lane restrictions and night work on Consumers Drive (Regional Road 25) in the Town of Whitby.

  • When: October 7 to 25.
  • Lane restrictions: Consumers Drive, from 80 metres east of Sunray Court to 150 metres west of Thickson Road (Regional Road 26). Night lane restrictions will be required for one night to complete the asphalt milling. Exact date is to be determined.
  • Road closure: there will be a one-night road closure on Consumers Drive, from Sunray Court to Thickson Road, to complete the paving in a safe and efficient manner. Exact date is to be determined.
  • Why: Curb and gutter replacement, structure adjustments, partial depth asphalt milling, base asphalt repairs, surface asphalt paving and new pavement markings.

Oshawa traffic restrictions

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be replacing deficient polybutylene water service connections on Turf Court in the City of Oshawa. The project includes replacement of existing polybutylene piping with new copper pipe and relocation of the water service valves to property line.

Construction schedule: The Region’s contractor, Bry Ron Contracting Ltd., will mobilize crews in October and is expecting to complete the work by the end of October.

Permanent restoration of disturbed areas: This project includes permanent restoration of all disturbed areas throughout the limits of construction.

Traffic restrictions: All roadways will remain open to traffic during construction. Local residents should expect minor delays and are asked to drive cautiously for the safety of the construction workers, cyclists and pedestrians in the area. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible; however notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be temporarily relocated out of the driveway to provide access for construction.

Temporary water service interruptions: During the course of this work, residents will experience intermittent temporary water supply interruptions. The contractor will notify homeowners at least 24 hours in advance of any required service interruptions to give homeowners sufficient time to prepare. It is recommended that homeowners keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes during the service interruptions.

Monck Street and McGrigor Street

The Regional Municipality of Durham will replace deficient polybutylene water service connections on Monck Street and McGrigor Street in the City of Oshawa.
