Pickering has announced auditions for Pickering’s official dance company, SynchroniCity.
The youth dance company is a group of talented youth dancers aged 12 – 17 years.
Covid has been a tough time for everyone, but our dancers continue to rise to the challenge to find new ways to practice, and continue to build on their skills. This year, the auditions have changed and are following the Provincial and Health Department guidelines to ensure safety. Small groups will be in the audition room, providing lots of space for the showing. Additional people will not be permitted in the facility during auditions. Masks must be worn at all times, and may only be removed during the performance. All judges will wear masks throughout all auditions, said a city statement.
Experienced dancers are invited to attend the Synchronicity audition on Sunday, October 4th from 12 pm – 2 pm at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex, Studio A. Auditions are free and will be overseen by a panel of talented choreographers and dance professionals. Dancers have the option to audition in person or online. No music is required, as it will be provided at the audition.
If selected, company members will have opportunities to build their dance resumes through education and performance opportunities. In addition to performing at a number of city events, company members will work with industry professionals; developing leadership, audition, dance, and performance skills. If accepted into the company there will be a program fee of $150 for the fall session (October – December). Fees include all choreography, guest choreography, and rehearsal space.
