Police warn of tickets at non-compliant events

Durham Police received information of a large car show that was supposed to have taken place this weekend in Pickering. It has since been cancelled by the organizers.

Residents are reminded to adhere to the rules (10 inside and 25 outside) around gathering in Ontario. Police will be enforcing non-complaint gatherings in Durham Region and issuing tickets when necessary, said a police statement.

The car meet, which normally attracts hundreds of car enthusiasts, was expected to take place near Brock Road and Highway #401 on private property. Police would like to remind anyone attending this cancelled event that we will be utilizing numerous resources to ensure that the roadways are safe to all commuters, the statement said.

Police said citizens can report a gathering of more than 10 people indoors, 25 people outdoors, or a non-compliant business on www.drps.ca under Online Services – Community Concerns. As a secondary option, citizens can call the DRPS non-emergency line at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5802 and leave a message. The DRPS will endeavor to respond to these calls in a timely manner, however, our focus continues to be on emergency calls for service.

DRPS officers continue to patrol communities to keep them safe and respond to emergencies as they arise.
