Rouge, the brave cop dog, gets his man in the woods

Oshawa: It must have been a dramatic chase, but in the end the brave cop dog – as they say – got his man.

With the assistance of the K-9 Unit, police arrested a suspect from dense woods after he fled from a stolen vehicle in Oshawa overnight.

On Monday, August 12 at 11:15 pm, a member of Central East Division located a stolen white Chevrolet Express van near King Street and Farewell Street in Oshawa. The suspect ran from the stolen van when he saw police into a heavily wooded area.

K-9 Rogue attended with his handler and located the male in a short time. The man was taken into custody, and later taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Hoang Tran, age 34, of No Fixed Address is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2.

He was held for a bail hearing.
