Seven Covid-19 cases in Durham reported

Seven positive cases of Covid-19 infections have been reported in Durham, according to Whitby Mayor Don Mitchell.

“We have just learned that of the seven positive Covid-19 cases currently being monitored by the Durham Region Health Department, one is a Whitby resident. We understand that they have been discharged from Lakeridge Health Oshawa and remain in self-isolation. We wish them a speedy recovery,” Mayor Mitchell said this morning in an issued statement.

The first case of Covid-19 in Whitby was confirmed on March 14, the town announced.

The health and well-being of our community is our top priority. Through good hand hygiene and social distancing, we can all help prevent the spread of germs and illness. Rest assured, the town continues to do everything it can to help keep residents safe and healthy, including the facility and event closures announced on March 13,” Mayor Mitchell added.
