The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has announced that it is investigating a collision in Oshawa that took place on Thursday.
SIU is a civilian agency that investigates death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault in incidents involving the police.
The collision occurred on Bruce & Albert between a Lexus and Dodge.
A 63-year old man from the Dodge was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Prior to collision, a Durham officer had been attempting a traffic stop of the Lexus, which was suspected to be stolen, said a SIU Ontario statement.
