Slow drive, liquor gets 90-day licence suspension

A motorist from Ajax has been handed a 90-day driving licence suspension for slow driving and impairment on the highway. The car was also towed away (see image above).

Apparently, the driver was also weaving, according to a tweet yesterday from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division.

Toronto OPP officers stopped this driver 35 from Ajax on Highway 401 near Dufferin for slow driving and weaving within the lane, said the tweet.

It said the driver was charged with impaired driving, 80 plus and open liquor. A90-day licence suspension was awarded.

Zipping away at 152 kmh

Meanwhile, in Durham, another driver was caught speeding away at 152 kmh.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) North Division officers have been conducting traffic enforcement in Uxbridge area targeting speeders.

They caught one doing 152 kmh. It is never okay, said a DRPS tweet but did not give further details.

The incident happened on Saturday.

Officers were also conducting daytime RIDE checks in the Township Of Brock, reminding motorists to please not drink and drive.

Officers from North Durham did a RIDE checkpoint in Sunderland Friday night. One three-day suspension was issued.

Yesterday, DRPS closed off Taunton Road between Ochonski Road and Main Street in Orono due to a motor vehicle accident.
