Durham Police yesterday reported that ‘an unknown white substance’ blanketed most of Durham Region and the GTA.
The police asked motorists to “please remove it from your vehicle windows and be extra cautious”. It said the unknown white substance “may cause collisions and delays…plan ahead and slow down”.
“Our communication unit is receiving numerous calls for snow related incidents…we have 15 calls for minor collisions and vehicles into ditches, especially in north part of the region. Please slow down and clear your vehicles of snow,” it advised.
Emergency Kit
Durham Police also asked residents to ensure their emergency car kits were ready and in their cars for the winter.
“We’ve got our emergency car kits ready for this snowy weather. Do you? Make sure to keep an emergency blanket, flashlight with batteries, first aid kit, and water readily available in your vehicle for this winter!”
