Volunteers needed for the Newcomer Advisory Table

Whitby: The Durham Local Diversity and Immigration Partnership Council (LDIPC) is seeking residents from the community, who can provide first-hand experience and insight as a newcomer, to form the Newcomer Advisory Table (NAT).

LDIPC acts as a community advisory body guiding the development and execution of the Durham Diversity and Immigration Community Plan. The NAT will help to inform the strategic direction, and support the work, of the LDIPC. Members of NAT will serve a one-year term with an option to renew.

The deadline for submissions is noon on September 16.

NAT members must be residents of Durham Region who were born outside of Canada, and have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Getting a job in Canada
  • Buying or developing a business in Canada
  • Having foreign credentials officially recognized
  • Completing professional training or education
  • Applying for entry, residence and/or citizenship in Canada
