Warrant out for woman human trafficker, one held

Police has issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman suspect in a human trafficking investigation from Durham Region.

In late 2019, the Durham Regional Police Human Trafficking Unit commenced an investigation after a female victim of human trafficking came forward. The 22-year-old suspect, Kia Samson, of No Fixed Address, is wanted on the following charges:

Trafficking in Persons Under 18 Years of Age by Exercising Control
Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided Under 18 Years of Age
Financial Benefit Trafficking in Person Under 18 Years of Age
Invite/Counsel Sexual Exploitation of a Young Person
Possession of Child Pornography
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
Obstruct Justice
Procuring Person Under 18 Years of Age

She is urged to contact a lawyer and turn herself in to police.

Pickering male turns self in

A Pickering male, wanted in a human trafficking investigation, turned himself in yesterday morning.

On February 21, the Human Trafficking Unit commenced an investigation after complaints from a 24-year-old female with regards to human trafficking. Between the summer of 2015 and February 2020, the suspect, Daniel Bell procured a 24-year-old female to work for him as an escort in the sex trade.

Daniel Bell, age 29, of Pickering was arrested and charged with: Material Benefit Trafficking Person; Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Procuring; Advertising Sexual Services; Trafficking in Person by Exercising Control and Assault X 3. He is being held for a bail hearing.

Human Trafficking investigators are releasing his photo to ensure there are no other victims.
