Weed farmers grew much more than were allowed

Two are facing charges following a Cannabis grow operation investigation in Beaverton.

Investigators from the Drug Enforcement Unit commenced an investigation in relation to a property located on Thorah Concession Road 2. It was determined that three licenses had been issued for plants to be grown indoors at this location.

Following the execution of a warrant, officers located an outdoor grow-op much larger than the licenses allow. Approximately 2,100 plants were seized, as well as more than 300 pounds of dried Cannabis that were packaged for shipping.

Quan Chen, age 31, and Zheng Zhu, age 49, both of Markham, are charged with: Unauthorized Production under the Cannabis Act.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Baldini from the Drug Enforcement Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2204.
