Which is best decorated home in Pickering?

It’s an annual exercise in Pickering – to pick the city’s best decorated home for the holiday season.

Which one was it this year?

  1. First Place, once again, went to 1285 Ilona Park Road, home of the Williams Family
  2. Second Place to 1286 Haller Avenue
  3. Third Place to 982 Redbird Crescent
  4. Honourable mention went to 862 Vicki Drive

Some 250 local adults 55+ toured the streets of Pickering with Durham Region Transit on December 11 and enjoyed a neighbourhood lights display, accompanied by Mayor Ryan and Members of Pickering City Council, PAC 4 Teens and Youth Staff. Participants enjoyed a reception following the tour, with a live performance by the George Lake Big Band, all hosted by the City of Pickering Community Services Department.

This is an annual event enjoyed by many and each year the city tries to make it bigger, better and brighter. One of the changes that took place this year, in effort to increase community engagement, voting was open to the entire community in the days leading up to the event, with the final tally coming in the evening of December 11th. Over 200 members of our community called or emailed to cast their vote for the Best Decorated Home in Pickering and the race was closer than ever this year!

Congratulations and special thanks to the community for participating and especially to those who go all out to not only decorate their homes for the enjoyment of many, but who also collect for the food bank and other worthy causes such as Sick Kids Charitable Foundation.

Mayor Ryan went to visit Mrs. C. Williams on December 18th and presented the winning plaque.
