Wife stabbed during violent domestic quarrel

Durham police said a 66-year-old Scugog male was arrested after stabbing his wife in a violent domestic-related incident in Port Perry on Tuesday.

On July 15 at about 10:25 pm, members of North Division were called to a residence near Chimney Hill Way and Old Simcoe Road in Port Perry. The suspect had assaulted and stabbed his wife prior to police arrival. The female was located under a vehicle with substantial injuries and stab wounds. Officers arrested the male without incident.

The female was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma hospital with serious injuries. She is currently in hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition. The suspect was also taken to a local hospital for injuries that he sustained during the domestic incident and was released shortly after.

The 66-year-old male from Scugog is charged with: Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon. He was held for a bail hearing.
