Women being grabbed from behind on Ajax trail

Durham police yesterday said three women have now reported being grabbed by an unknown male while they were walking or running on Miller’s Creek Trail in Ajax.

The most recent incident occurred on the afternoon of July 16th on the trail just north of Magill Drive and east of Westney Road North. A 50-year-old Ajax female was jogging when she was approached from behind by a male on a bicycle. The unknown male then touched her inappropriately and pedaled away. Two other similar incidents involving other women have also occurred in the area at various times in the day, said a police statement.

The suspect is described as a male, dark complexion, about 15-20 years old, medium build, short black hair with spikes on the top, operating a dark-coloured bicycle on the path.

Anyone with information regarding this or other similar incidents are asked to contact D/Cst. MacKinnon of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.
